Dear Prescott College Community,
Prescott College stands in support with Patrisse Cullors as she faces the recent attacks by right wing white supremacists spreading misinformation about her and Black Lives Matter. Patrisse and her family have been threatened, their personal location shared publicly, and their ability to live free and safe lives has been put in jeopardy by these recent accusations.
These unsupported allegations are dangerous and are a coordinated attack on Patrisse because of her life’s work as an abolitionist organizer. This attempt to slander her reputation, and to draw attention away from the critically important work of organizing for the freedom of Black life, is not new nor unexpected. This strategy is meant to divide communities and discredit the individual who is being most successful in leading movements for the collective liberation of those most impacted by police violence.
We are fortunate to have Patrisse’s organizing expertise and artistic brilliance as a part of our Prescott College community through her role as director of the college’s MFA program. We stand in solidarity with Patrisse and will do everything in our power to ensure that she and her family are safe and supported.
If you would like to hear Patrisse’s direct response to these attacks, she addresses them in detail in her recent interview with Marc Lamont Hill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
